Jolt Cola is Back: Redcon1 Revives the ‘80s Iconic Caffeine Kick
Aaron Singerman, the CEO of Redcon1 just took to Instagram to announce he and Redcon1 are bringing back Jolt Cola, "The World's First Energy Drink"
If you're an 80s or 90s kid you may remember Jolt Cola, the "insane" high caffeine soda your mom wouldn't let you buy but that you and your friends would ride bikes to the convenience store to buy before a sleepover so you could stay up all night playing video games.
Jolt Cola was a high caffeine, for the time anyway, soda that was rolled out in 1985 by the Jolt Company, Inc. It was marketed as a high caffeine alternative to regular colas with the slogan "All the sugar twice the caffeine". At the time the drink gained popularity for it's "extreme" caffeine content which at the time was high at 71mg where as most sodas are about half of that, although compared to energy drinks of today which contain 200-300mg of caffeine, that's low for today.
The Jolt Brand had a rocky history going under and having various relaunches and ownership changes over the years. Jolt Cola was discontinued and reintroduced several times and briefly appeared back in 2017 before being discontinued again.
According to Aaron Singerman's Instagram post Redcon1 is bringing it back. It's unclear whether they're bringing back Jolt in its original form or buying the name and turning it into a flavor of Redcon1 Energy Drink. The Instagram post features a canof Redcon1 Energy with Jolt Cola as the flavor at the top, it also says "Zero Sugar" which is the opposite of the original Jolt's tagline all the sugar twice the caffeine, but either way, Redcon1 is bringing back the Jolt of your childhood in some form or fashion.
