Types of Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators (SARMS)

Types of Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators (SARMS)

We get a lot of people reaching out to us asking if we sell various SARMS, and wanting information about SARMS. We don't sell SARMS, however we do sell a Prohormone called Osta-Plex which is referred to as a PSARM due to how it activates various processes in the body. In today's post we're going to be talking a little bit about SARMS or Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators as well as different types of SARMS.

Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators or SARMS are a class of compounds which interact with androgen receptors in the body, similar to anabolic steroids but with more selective action. These compounds are currently being researched for potential medical applications including treating conditions like osteoporosis, muscel wasting and some hormone disorders.

While SARMS are being researched for their potential therapeutic benefits they are not approved for medical use and are not intended for recreational or athletic purposes in most countries. There's also concerns about safety, potential side effects, and long term health implications.

So with that introduction out of the way, let's look at and talk about some of the most commonly discussed SARMS.

Types of SARMS

Ostarine (MK-2866 or Enobosarm)

Ostarine is best known for its potential to improve muscle mass and strength.

Ligandrol (LGD-4033)

LGD-4033 is considered one of the most potent SARMS for muscle growth.

Andarine (S-4)

Andarine was originally developed to treat muscle wasting conditions and it's also known for its fat cutting effects.

Cardarine (GW-501516

Cardarine is often mistaken for a SARM however it's actually a PPAR-Delta receptor antagonist known for boosting endurance and helping to support fat burning.

RAD-140 (Testolone)

RAD140 is currently being studied for its potential in treating muscle wasting disorders and improving muscle mass.

YK-11

YK11 is considered a myostatin inhibitor and may help to promote muscle growth.

S-23

S23 is known for it's potential to increase muscle mass and reduce fat.

Ibutamoren (MK-677)

MK677 is not a SARM but is commonly grouped with SARMS. MK677 is a hormone secretagogue which helps to stimulate the release of growth hormone.

LGD-3303

LGD3303 is similar to LGD4033 and is being explored for it's potential to support bone and muscle health.

AC-262536

AC262536 is a SARM with a short half life and is being studied for it's anabolic effects.

S-40503

S40503 is currently being studied for its potential to support bone and muscle development.

SR9009 (Stenabolic)

Stenabolic is not technically a SARM but is often mentioned alongside SARMS. SR9009 is a Rev-ErbA agaonist and is currently being researched for it's potential effects on metabolism and endurance.

Wrapping Up

The safety and long-term side effects of SARMS has not been well established though research is ongoing. While some SARMS were developed to address certain medical conditions or for their performance enhancing effects, there are a host of potential side effects including disrupting hormonal balance, liver toxicity, cardiovascular risks including effects on lipid profiles, suppression of natural testosterone and unknown long-term effects.
