Bucked Up Pre Workout Review
Bucked Up is one of the most popular pre-workouts on the market today. In a day and age when many brands are trying to put out the most stimmed out preworkouts packed with 700mg of caffeine, DMHA and other stimulants, Bucked Up Preworkout packs a modest 200mg of caffeine, however many fitness enthusiasts forget what preworkouts are all about, it's not all about caffeine and energy, most users are looking for energy along with increased blood flow and a nice pump, enhanced endurance, and improved focus to stay on track during your workouts and improve the mind muscle connection. Bucked up has clinical dosages of citrulline and beta alanine along with other ingredients to improve performance in and out of the gym. In today's post we're going to be taking a look at the formula behind Bucked Up Preworkout and bringing you a review of my experience taking Bucked Up Preworkout for a month.
BUCKED UP PRE-WORKOUT FORMULA
So let's take a look at the formula behind the Bucked Up Preworkout and the ingredients that make up this formula. Again, this isn't a super stim heavy preworkout, it contains no DMHA, a moderate 200mg of Caffeine Anhydrous, and no other stimulants like Higenamine or Hordenine, however the 200mg of Caffeine is plenty to provide you with a boost of energy to get you going, it's about the equivalent of two cups of coffee, but is low enough that you can take Bucked Up after work without having to worry about struggling to fall asleep later in the evening like you might with a DMHA preworkout.
Bucked Up is a solid preworkout which provides increased nitric oxide production and blood flow, you can definitely feel the blood vessels dilating to allow for more blood flow to muscles and the increased endurance is noticeable. They've also thrown in some Taurine and Himalayan Rock Salt to give the pump even more of a boost.
In terms of Nootropics they've added a clinical dose of 200mg of Alpha GPC as well as 100mg of Taurine to help boost focus, alertness and give you a strong mind/muscle connection. And last but not least, one of the more unique and less commonly used ingredients is the 50mg of Deer Antler Velvet which is believed to boost strength and endurance, improve immune system function and to counter the effects of stress. It's also believed Deer Antler Velvet may naturally raise testosterone levels, nothing crazy but it does seem to give you a slight natural boost.
BUCKED UP PREWORKOUT INGREDIENT BREAKDOWN
Citrulline Malate
Supports circulatory function. Provides a nice muscle pump with increased muscle fullness, brings more blood to the muscles to increase endurance and muscle recovery post workout. Also helps to increase athletic performance.
Beta Alanine
This ingredient is best known for promoting "The Tingles" however Beta Alanine also great for increasing endurance, improving athletic performance and reducing muscle sorenss.
Caffeine Anhydrous
Caffeine Anhydrous providers users with a quick boost of energy, however it doesn't last long making this a great preworkout for taking after work when you don't want to be kept up at night by long lasting stimulants. Caffeine Anhydrous also boosts concentration and focus and may help with weight loss.
AlphaSize Alpha GPC
Alpha GPC is a nootropic which increases the release of acetylcholine and helps improve memory and learning.
Taurine
Taurine helps to boost hydration and helps to reduce muscular fatigue giving you more muscle endurance while lifting or training.
Himalayan Rock Salt
Himalayan Salt plays a variety of roles in a preworkout supplement, it gives a sick muscle pump while training, but it also helps to relieve muscle soreness, helps to soothe the nervous system and helps to detoxify the body.
Deer Antler Velvet
Deer Antler Velvet helps to strengthen bones, improves immune system function and is believed to help naturally boost testosterone levels.
BUCKED UP PRE-WORKOUT EXPERIENCE AND REVIEW
So I wound up grabbing myself a tub of the Watermelon Bucked Up Preworkout and taking it for a month. Over the years I've tried a lot of preworkouts ranging from super stimmed out DMAA and DMHA preworkouts to very low stim stuff like Optimum Nutrition Amino Energy. While I enjoy both, these days I try to limit my intake of stimulants and when possible prefer moderately stimmed preworkouts or even non-stimulant pump preworkouts. I should add that a lot of preworkouts tend to leave me feeling nauseous by the end of my workout, however I can say that wasn't the case with Bucked Up Pre.
So Bucked Up Preworkout to me provided a good amount of energy, enough to get me interested in going to the gym even when I was feeling lazy or unmotivated and even after a long day of work on those days that I didn't feel like going. The 200mg of caffeine got me to get up and get to the gym, but wasn't enough to make me jittery, nauseous or overly stimmed out.
I'll typically do about an hour or hour and a half long gym session, however with Bucked Up I'd find myself going closer to the two hour mark and not really feeling fatigued or bored so it seemed to give me plenty of endurance and kept me focused. Bucked Up doesn't have you feeling overly pumped up or like you can take on the world, but you definitely feel amped up and ready to go. The Alpha GPC was definitely noticeable, increased muscle endurance was definitely noticeable, and it provided a nice muscle pump both during and after the workout.
Honestly if I had to find something to compare it to, I'd say it's a new and improved and more modern C4. I say that because C4 for a good decade or more was kind of the mainstream go to preworkout for most casual gymgoers and I feel like Bucked Up preworkout has taken over that space. It's also a good but not overly crazy preworkout kind of like how C4 was, and lastly, it's just a well rounded preworkout for the average gymgoer or fitness enthusiast which for me was just what I was looking for. And lastly, obviously we don't take Preworkout supplements for the taste, but at the same time it's great to have something that's drinkable. Would I recommend buying Bucked Up Preworkout? Absolutely!
