CBum's Bum Energy Drink Review & Taste Test

CBum's Bum Energy Drink Review & Taste Test
WHAT IS CBUM BUM ENERGY?

Over the past year or two bodybuilder and fitness influencer Chris Bumstead had partnered with RAW Nutrition and eventually launched his own "CBUM" spin-off line of RTD Preworkouts, his Thavage Preworkout, and Itholate Protein, all which quickly became huge hits. Well the newest arrival from CBUM is the All New Bum Energy Drink. BUM Energy is an all new energy drink which comes in a unique soda style 12 ounce can as opposed to the normal 16 ounce tall boy cans or even 8 ounce slim cans most other energy drink brands use. The drink is also unique in it's caffeine content. Where as most energy drinks feature 200mg of even 300mg of caffeine, BUM Energy packs a moderate 112mg of Natural Caffeine, right in line with that of something like a Red Bull. In addition to the 112mg of Natural Caffeine which leads to a smoother energy with less of a crash, it also features 250mg of Cognizen Citicoline to promote focus and enhanced cognition. The drink comes in two flavors including Orange Sunrise and Cherry Frost. While the drink currently only comes in these two flavor options, CBUM and RAW have been pretty good about rolling out new flavors of other products, so we're hopeful we'll see another couple flavors rolling out later this year.

CBUM ENERGY DRINK REVIEW

So we'll give you our overall thoughts on the drink, and then as we usually do in our Youtube Reviews, we'll rank Bum Energy 1-10 in the categories of Level of Carbonation, Level of Sweetness, and Level of Flavor.

Overall I enjoyed CBUM Energy. The drink packed a good amount of carbonation, a toned down but good flavor and a moderate level of sweetness, all things I personally enjoy as I often find other energy drinks like Ghost and others to be tasty, but a little bit syrupy, and a slight bit overly sweet, especially for such a large can. I'll also be the first to admit that Orange and Cherry are probably two of my least favorite flavors, but I still found myself enjoying the drink, though I do look forward to potentially other flavors being introduced to the line. One thing that is both interesting and different from other Sports Nutrition brands which have rolled out Energy Drinks such as RAZE, Redcon1, and Axe & Sledge is where most of these brands tend to borrow flavors from their preworkouts, aminos and other supplements, Cherry Frost and Orange Sunrise are two completely new flavors to the CBUM line of products. CBUM Energy didn't borrow any flavors from existing CBUM products such as Dragon Fruit, Peach Bum, Green Crush, Rocket Candy, Blackberry Lemonade or 3-Peat, all flavors from CBUM's Thavage Preworkout.

CBUM'S BUM ENERGY SCORES

LEVEL OF CARBONATION - 8

When it comes to energy drinks today's energy drinks range from super carbonated and leaving you burping after a few sips, to just a light bit of carbonation. BUM Energy comes in with quite a bit of carbonation which personally I like in an energy drink and I'd give it a score of an 8 on level of carbonation.

LEVEL OF SWEETNESS - 6

When it comes to the level of sweetness BUM Energy was not all that sweet. That's actually not a critique it's a plus to me as I find many energy drinks to be overly sweet and even bordering on syrupy. BUM Energy is sweetened with sucralose and the drink contains 5 calories. Something we mention in a lot of our energy drink reviews is the fact we prefer energy drinks with 5, 10 or even 20 calories. We typically find they taste better than zero calorie drinks, and that tiny number of calories is pretty insignificant in terms of one's caloric intake. While I enjoyed the drink I was a bit surprised that it wasn't a bit sweeter or more flavorful as it does contain a few calories. If you're someone who loves the sweetness of a Ghost Energy drink you may find the level of sweetness of BUM Energy to be a bit low but it's a tasty drink none the less.

LEVEL OF FLAVOR - 6

Lastly, let's talk abut the strength of flavor. In the category of flavor we give it a 6. Cherry and Orange are typically very strong flavors, however the flavor of BUM Energy is really toned down. Again, personally I liked this as drinks tend to be a bit more crisp and refreshing when they aren't overly sweet, but again if you're someone who loves say a Ghost Sour Patch Kids Energy Drink you may find BUM Energy to be lacking a bit in the flavor department. I thought BUM Energy had a good amount of flavor, it was definitely substantially more flavorful than say a sparkling water, but much less sweet and flavorful than most other energy drinks on the market.

OVERALL SCORE - 7

Overall I'd give BUM Energy a score of 7. I loved the level of carbonation and while the level of sweetness and flavor was on the lower end, that's personally something I like. I also gave this drink a 7 despite the fact that I'm not particularly fond of Cherry or Orange flavors. If and when BUM Energy rolls out in some additional flavor options that are more my cup of tea I could easily see my score going up to a 9.

WRAPPING UP

Overall I was a fan of the CBUM Energy Drink. If your someone who enjoys a well carbonated crisp and refreshing beverage with a moderate amount of caffeine I can confidently say I think you'll enjoy BUM Energy. Again, currently BUM Energy is available in two flavor options Cherry Frost and Orange Sunrise, though we imagine there will be more flavors coming down the line. If you're looking to grab yourself a case of BUM Energy Drinks to try we should be getting them in any day now and will be updating the link below once they're in stock, so keep an eye out for that.
