Testosterone 21 vs. D-Bal Max
So there's a new supplement on the market called D-Bal Max and we've been getting some customers asking about it. DBal, is street slang or the non-scientific name of Dianabol aka Methandrostenaolone, also referred to as "The Granddaddy of Steroids". We've had a number of customers ask us about D-Bal Max so we decided to look into it and break down the formula, as well as compare it to another muscle builder called Hi-Tech Pharamaceuticals Testosterone 21.
DBal Max claims the supplement helps to increase muscle growth and strength, help with fat burning, and to provide users with explosive energy and rapid muscle recovery. After initially hearing the name of this supplement I was expecting it to be a prohormone or at the very least a natural muscle builder featuring ingredients like Turkesterone or Epicatechins this one actually looks more like a men's multivitamin, though it does feature a respectable dose of the adaptogen Ashwagandha packing 750mg of Ashwagandha.
WHAT IS D-BAL MAX?
D-Bal Max is a new supplement which is being talked about a lot online recently. The website for DBal Max is a very salesy landing page that doesn't show much about where it's manufactured or who the company behind it is. DBal Max is not a prohormone nor is it even a natural muscle builder featuring ingredients like Turkesterone, Ecdysterone's, Laxogenin or Epicatechins. The formula mainly contains vitamins, minerals, arginine, caffeine and SENACTIV branded Panax Notoginseng.
My initial reaction to DBal Max is that the label and formula doesn't quite justify such an aggressive name like DBal Max. You can checkout the supplement facts panel below. The formula behind DBal Max features Vitamin C and Vitamin B, Folate, Magnesium, Zinc and Copper, all vitamins and minerals which are good for men's health, however the dosages are a big low. Below that we have 750mg of Ashwagandha Extract. The Ashwagandha is not a premium version of Ashwagandha like KSM-66, Sensoril or Ashwapure, however 750mg is well dosed none the less. Next is 500mg of Arginine and 500mg of Lysine. Arginine helps increase muscle growth by signalling muscles and encouraging muscle growth and Lysine helps to increase the plasma levels of human growth hormones resulting in improved muscle building, improved performance and helps to reduce the rate of catabolism. They also threw in 200mg of caffeine, about the equivalent of two cups of coffee for energy, and lastly is features 50mg of SENACTIV branded panax notoginseng which helps increase energy levels and helps to reduce muscle soreness.
So what's the verdict on D-Bal Max? If this were a low stim preworkout capsule to increase energy and support a bit of a pump and sold for $20 or $30 it may not be a bad supplement for the casual gym goer. That said with a name like D-Bal Max I'd expect something a bit more hardcore and the $69.99 price tag for a 30 serving bottle is substantially more expensive than proven natural muscle builders like Turkesterone, Laxogenin and Epicatechins and it's even more expensive than actual Prohormones like Hi-Tech's 1-Testosterone which sells for $59.95 and which will give dramatically better results than D-Bal Max.
TESTOSTERONE 21 vs. D-BAL MAX
So I wanted to compare DBal Max to another muscle builder. Initially I was going to compare D-Bal Max to a prohormone, however in an effort to keep the comparison apples to apples we'll compare D-Bal Max to another Natural Muscle Builder, Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals Testosterone 21.
So looking at Testosterone 21 compared to D-Bal Max, Testosterone 21's primary muscle building ingredients are Fadogia Agrestis at a hefty 1200mg dose, Fadogia Agrestis is an ingredient which is a clinically proven muscle builder and which has been touted by a lot of the larger podcasters who talk about sports and nutrition. Next up is 400mg of Tongkat Ali which is a powerful test booster and muscle builder, it also contains a hefty dose of 600mg of Ashwagandha, not quite as much as D-Bal's 750mg of Ashwagandha, however Hi-Tech uses the premium patented KSM-66 Ashwagandha which is more bioavailable form, Hi-Tech Testosterone 21 also features their Cyclosome Delivery, a patented form of Liposomal Delivery which leads to enhanced absorption and bioavailability. Lastly Hi-Tech contains 50mg of Zinc compared to D-Bal's 10mg of Zinc.
Taking a look at the supplement facts panel of D-Bal Max, it contains Vitamins B and C, Folate, Magnesium, Zinc and Copper, all good for you but nothing super sexy there. The main formula of D-Bal Max however includes 750mg of Ashwagandha, a respectable dosage some the adaptogen Ashwagandha is great for inhibiting cortisol and helps to boost testosterone which in turn can support muscle growth, however Ashwagandha woudln't be considered a muscle builder. We have 500mg of Arginine and Lysine, both of those are not huge dosages and while they can benefit muscle growth and recovery, I wouldn't really consider those ingredients to be muscle builders. Last is 50mg of SENACTIV branded panax notoginseng which helps to improve energy and reduce post training soreness, however this formula features just 50mg where as a clinical dosage is 200mg to 400mg.
IS D-BAL MAX WORTH IT?
D-Bal Max doesn't appear to be put out by a well known or reputable company, it seems like somewhat of a fly by night product and company similar to a lot of weight loss supplements on the market. While the name sounds aggressive and impressive, the formula itself isn't necessarily anything to write home about, it's at best a mediocre male sports performance vitamin at best, however the ingredients nor the dosages seem appropriate to deliver the results this supplement promises which is gaining mass and strength, breaking plateaus, and cutting weight. And as far as the price point, it doesn't warrant a $70 price tag, not only are there not any patented or premium ingredients in there, none of the ingredients it contains are expensive ingredients, none really support the goals of this product, and for $70 there's a number of different single ingredient supplements as well as test booster and natural muscle builders I'd recommend to someone before I'd recommend D-Bal Max.
