Brad: (00:28)
Mm-hmm.
John: (00:28)
I know, even though the supplement industry keeps cranking out higher and higher stim stuff and a lot of people love that, there are a lot of people out there who are stim sensitive, workout later in the afternoon or evening, or for whatever reason don't want to have as many stims.
Brad: (00:43)
Yep.
John: (00:43)
Now in the past, I've taken things like Allmax A Cuts, Optimum Nutrition Amino Energy, Off the Chain, Neutrabio's Amino Kick is great.
Brad: (00:51)
Yeah.
John: (00:52)
And those supplements are great, but it's really just aminos and caffeine, you're not really getting the pump ingredients, the blood flow stuff, the endurance stuff, the neutropics. So here we have actually three kind of full all in one pre-workouts that are going to do-
Brad: (01:07)
True pre-workouts.
John: (01:07)
True pre-workouts.
Brad: (01:08)
Yeah.
John: (01:08)
That are going to be low on the stims and also have the stuff for focus, pumps, endurance, et cetera.
Brad: (01:13)
Yeah. So to start, the one that's probably been around, actually, these two've been around for a long time. I'm going to start with Condense by Purus Labs. Condense, if you've been in the industry a while, you know about Purus Labs, they've been around forever. Condense has been, oh, probably 10 plus years I want to say? It's a small label, but it is really, really good. It has a 5.3 gram ATP sustaining, lactate buffering, blood oxygenating, mitochondrial efficiency complex.
John: (01:44)
Say that three times fast.
Brad: (01:45)
I barely said it once. In that matrix or in that complex is betaine in 2.5 grams, which is a good pump agent, beta-alanine as the trademark Carno-Syn at two grams so you're going to get the benefits of beta-alanine without all of the itch. Sodium nitrate as the NO3T trademark version, 360 milligrams, so you're going to get sodium, which is going to help with the pump and you're going to get nitrates, which is going to help with the pump so you kind of get best of both worlds there. Then you get betaine nitrate, which again, you're going to get betaine and then nitrates, two different things for pump, and then 200 milligrams of caffeine. A diner cup of coffee is anywhere between like a 100 and 110 milligrams of caffeine, so you could kind of think of this as two cups of coffee, right to the face. It's honestly not going to be crazy. It's going to be stronger on the side of low stim, but I think pretty much everyone could still consider that a low stim pre-workout.
John: (02:39)
Yeah.
Brad: (02:41)
Yeah. Really, really good. 100 milligrams of sodium overall and they're, I think, in seven flavors or so. I've had all these flavors before. They're really, really good. One of the good thing about the low stim pre-workouts is that since they are so low on the heavy stimulants, the heavy stimulants are really bitter, you could flavor these things really good and they actually taste awesome.
John: (03:01)
Okay. Then next, this is actually a brand new one we got from ZAO, who is kind of more of an overall health and kind of nutrition brand, but is getting into the pre-workout space. We got Light Up Extra. They also have a non-stim version that we have on the website as well so you could always stack these two together. This one's going to be pretty light on the stims. We got just a 100 milligrams of natural caffeine. I find that the natural caffeine smoother than the caffeine-
Brad: (03:26)
Yeah, absolutely.
John: (03:27)
[crosstalk 00:03:27] Not only is it low in caffeine, but it's also the natural caffeine. We got 1500 milligrams of arginine, 2000 of citraline, so nothing over the top. You're going to get a decent pump from this. Malic acid is for ...
Brad: (03:42)
Usually flavoring stuff.
John: (03:44)
Acacia gum and then green tea, which should help a little bit with weight loss as well.
Brad: (03:49)
Yeah.
John: (03:51)
I've actually tried this one, it comes in a cherry limeade flavor. I believe these guys use natural sweeteners and natural flavorings as well.
Brad: (03:58)
Yeah. It's all stevia, monk fruit based.
John: (03:59)
Yeah. It's vegan friendly. If you're looking for something that's ... I know more, more and more people are coming into the stores, looking for things without artificial dyes, artificial colors, artificial sweeteners. If you're looking for something a little bit more natural, this is great, and it's pretty low on the stims as well. I don't see any reason why you couldn't take two scoops if you wanted to.
Brad: (04:16)
For sure.
John: (04:17)
So you get a little bit of a better pump and 200 milligrams of caffeine, which would bring a little bit closer to the Condense.
Brad: (04:23)
Yeah. Then with ZAO, just so everyone knows, it is the same company as Solaray and Cal, this is just what they want to do for sports nutrition. They kind of want to get into that line, but alongside Cal and Solaray, those are health wellness brands so this is a very good brand if you're concerned about health, wellness, all that stuff, it's healthy, no artificial stuff like John said. That's kind of the direction they're going with this whole brand. They have amino acids and a bunch of stuff so check out ZAO on our website, they have a bunch of new stuff that was added. It might pertain to a lot of you. Then the one that's probably been around the longest is PE Science Prolific and I actually have used quite a bit of this in the past because if I leave here and it's 5:00 or 6:00 PM, I don't want to take a scoop of a huge strong pre-workout. I really just kind of want to do something light like this. Every scoop is going to be 160 milligrams of caffeine, and it's a mix of regular caffeine and dicaffeine malate, so it's not even like 160-
John: (05:23)
Cup and a help of coffee, basically.
Brad: (05:25)
Yeah. It's not bad at all. Then for pump, every scoop has three grams of L. Citraline, clinical dose, that's good. 1.25 grams of betaine, 750 milligrams of taurine, 125 milligrams of citicoline, is a trademark cognizant, 100 milligrams of theanine, which is going to help smooth out the caffeine even more, 50 milligrams of rhodiola, 50 milligrams of coffee fruit. You could do one or two scoops of this. If you do two scoops, it kind of does turn into a pretty mild pre-workout at that point but after work for me, I would just do one scoop, get a little boost just to start your workout. This was always awesome for me and they have a ton of flavors. The sour peach candy one is the one I had. Really, really good.
John: (06:08)
Yeah, whether you're looking to take a break from your super high stim DMHA pre-workout, you workout later in the evenings, or you're just someone like me who's stim sensitive, here are three options for you that are well rounded pre-workouts, not just a caffeinated amino, not just a cup of black coffee. We'll link to all these down below, but again, Purus Labs Condense, ZAO Light Up Extra, and the PE Science Prolific, all great options.
Brad: (06:33)
Yeah. Thanks, guys.
John: (06:35)
Later, guys.
