What is Octopamine?
WHAT IS OCTOPAMINE?
Octopamine which also goes by the scientific name 3,4-dihydroxyphenethylamine or norsynephrine, is an ingredient which is becoming a popular addition to many preworkout supplements and fat burning supplements. Octopamine is a metabolite of synephrine and is a stimulant which is also believed to promote fat burning effects and a slight boost in metabolism. This ingredient was banned by WADA, the World Anti-Doping Association, however this ingredient is legal and is still a popular component of many thermogenic fat burners and preworkouts.
WHAT DOES OCTOPAMINE DO IN OUR BODIES?
Octopamine is an organic chemical which is closely related to norpinephrine and is a powerful stimulant which interacts with the central nervous system in a different way than caffeine to help make users have more energy, be more alert, and have more focus. It's also believed to have an effect on fat burning and may help to slightly speed up metabolism. Because of this Octopamine is often used as a stimulant, to boost athletic performance, and for weight loss.
CAN YOU BUY OCTOPAMINE?
Octopamine typically isn't sold as a single ingredient supplement in capsule or powder form, however it is a common ingredient in many fat burners, thermogenics, and preworkout supplements.
WHICH SUPPLEMENTS CONTAIN OCTOPAMINE?
One supplement which really made Octopamine a popular ingredient is Imperial Nutrition's Excelsior Preworkout which contains Octopamine. We carry a number of supplements which contain Octopamine such as Insane Labz Insane Cutz, iFORCE Nutrition's Dexaprine XR, and Redcon1 Double Tap.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO TAKE OCTOPAMINE?
Octopamine tends to kick in a bit faster than caffeine and some other stimulants so it's generally advised to take Octopamine about 15 minutes prior to a physically demanding activity, a mentally demanding activity, or before trying to burn fat. You can typically feel Octopamine kicking in within a few minutes of taking it, and full effects should set in within about 15 minutes.
